How To Use Your BISSELL SpotClean® Portable Deep Cleaner: A Step-By-Step Guide
Curious to see how easy it is to clean with your BISSELL SpotClean® Portable & Upholstery Carpet Washer? Then follow along with our step-by-step cleaning guide on how to use BISSELL Spot Cleaner below.
Step 1: Fill your clean water solution tank
Remove your clean water tank by pulling the top of the tank away from your SpotClean® unit. Then add water to the indicated fill line on your tank, followed by adding BISSELL’s Spot & Stain formula to the indicated formula fill line.
Pro tip: You can also add 29.5ml of BISSELL’s OXY Boost formula to this cleaning solution for tougher stains. The OXY Boost formula uses oxy action technology to unsettle stains right at the source.

Once your clean water tank has been filled, simply connect it back into place. You’ll know that it’s connected when you line the tank up with the indentations on your SpotClean® unit and hear an audible click.
Step 2: Release your hose from its hose grip basket
Release the flexible hose of your BISSELL SpotClean® unit from its attached hose clip. Then unwrap the hose completely from around your SpotClean® unit so that you can prepare to attach your desired cleaning tool.
Step 3: Attach your desired tool for tailored spot cleaning
Select and attach the cleaning tool that you’d like to use with your BISSELL SpotClean® unit.
The 8cm Tough Stain Brush is perfect for smaller, more concentrated applications, whilst the 15cm Cleaning Tool is great for evenly cleaning larger stains on wider surfaces.
Simply insert your selected tool at the end of your hose. Once you hear a click, you’ll know that your cleaning tool is in place and ready for use.
Step 4: Plug in your power cord and start up your SpotClean®
Twist the quick release cord wrap on the back of your BISSELL SpotClean® unit to unfurl your 4.5m long power cord. Plug your unit in at the wall, and press the power button to start up your SpotClean®.
Step 5: Pretreat heavily stained areas first
Before using the SpotClean, ensure you apply BISSELL’s Stain Pretreat formula if you’re looking to tackle heavier set stains. This can be done by simply spraying the Pretreat formula directly onto your stain and then waiting 3-5 minutes to ensure that the formula has been able to soak deep into your carpet or fabric fibres.
Step 6: Press the handle trigger to spray cleaning solution
Apply water and formula to your stain by pressing the handle trigger whilst positioning the head of your SpotClean® just above the stained area. Then, release the spray trigger and gently scrub at your stain to remove.
Step 7: Lift stains away by applying downward pressure
To lift away the stain, apply downward pressure on your attached cleaning tool, slowly pull the head of the tool towards you. This will lift your stain and trap dirty water, dirt, pet hair and debris in the dirty water tank.
If more cleaning solution is required, simply apply by pressing the handle trigger and repeating Steps 6 & 7.
Step 8: Use drying strokes to remove any excess moisture
Remove any excess moisture by continuing to use downward drying strokes. Make sure that you are no longer pressing the handle trigger and applying solution at this stage, as the objective is to remove any excess water, formula and moisture.
Repeat this step as often as necessary.
Step 9: Leave cleaned surfaces to dry
Once your stain has been removed, simply power down your Bissell SpotClean® unit and leave the treated surfaces to dry thoroughly. This typically takes under 30 minutes if you’ve been able to remove all excess moisture effectively, however drying times are dependent on the environment.
Step 10: Empty the tanks of your SpotClean® unit
Once your cleaning process has been completed, simply remove the two tanks of your BISSELL SpotClean® and empty them in a sink or basin. Rinse with warm water to remove any dirt, debris, or remaining formula.

How To Care For Your BISSELL SpotClean® Portable Deep Cleaner
To keep your BISSELL SpotClean® unit in good working condition, it’s recommended that you clean out both of its water tanks after every use. Thoroughly clean out the hose of your unit as well by using the included Hydrorinse™ Self-Cleaning Hose Tool.
